Races at the Addington race way!

Today is the big cup day at the races! Lots of horses are in it, but unfortunately my dads horse, Time For Dimonds, didn't do so well in the trails so he didn't get in. Also all the teachers dressed up like they were going to Addington with all there fascinates on and dresses, they look very beautiful!

Year 5/6 Camp!!!

Last week the year 5/6's went to camp! It was at Wauniu, which is on the opposite side of the bay from akoroa. We went there for 3 days and 2 nights. I was in the team extreme group for the activities. In that group was... Teagan, Ella-Rose, Sherina, Ace, Tepeti, Maisie, Holly, and myself! The parents that looked after our group were Miss Stapleton and Tony, Teagans dad. It was so much fun! I was in the bunk room with 11 other girls. All they wanted to do was talk all night, which was really annoying. On the first night there was a camp-fire. The people that ran it were called Graham, Ben and Kelsey. It was very crazy at the campfire because everyone was yelling and stuff. During the camp-fire there was a random lady dress up in a bunny onesie that came along in the middle of the campfire asking for a lighter because she was cold. Everyone was a bit confused when that happened. I did take about one hour and a half to get there but it was worth it!

Jack And The Tortoise.

Hello! My name is Jack! Don’t you hate having to walk to school everyday? Well i do. Here is a story about… um a tortoise.

One day i was walking along the beach to school because i live on the beach. Then a tortoise came out of the ocean! Golly Gosh! Then i had the most amazing idea. It was taking so long to get to school, so maybe i could get a ride!!! I ran up to the old tortoise and jumped on it’s back.

It Jumped up and ran as fast a it could. Maybe it hadn’t been ridden before because it wasn’t going very fast. I don't know. Wow this tortoise is slow. Maybe he’s broken or something like that. Oh well. But this has to be faster than walking.

The New Timetables!?

This term we are doing this thing where we make our own timetables for the whole week! It is rather confusing to do but is fun because we get to choose what we want to do and what would improve our learning. Some people find it really hard and need a lot of help but others are fine. I think it will take a lot of getting used to but it will be easier next year when we have to do it. Here is a example of what the timetables look like.

Broccoli Heaven!

“ Ewwwwww” I said looking down at the broccoli on my plate. I absolutely hate broccoli i would rather die than eat it. Well actually not because i don't want to die. “You have to eat it, it's really good for you!” Said Mum. “Okay, i will but only because if i don't i might get fat.” I said. I picked it up with my fork and took a little bite out of it. “Okchotuhbevbdmvh” i was chocking on that dumb old broccili. “Ckshckhscksghtnxjf, BBBLLLLAAAHHH” Next minutie i was dead. When i awoke i saw a old lady's face looking down over me. I sat up.“Good morning Anna!” She said. “Wait. You are my dead grandma!” “Yes i am and welcome to broccoli heaven!” She said. I looked around and saw rather large broccoli with little wooden houses in them. “Wow!” I said amazed. “Come on, let's go to my house!” And i lived happily ever after with my grandma in BROCCOLI HEAVEN!!!

Mahi Tahi Artshow!!!

Today is the Mahi Tahi art show!!! Over the past term all the Senior students have been doing some Olympic art. We did like five pieces of art from each class. my class did flax flowers, dot art of the Olympic rings, icing biscuits and decorating, silver ferns and clay tikis! When we did the clay tikis we had to do a blessing because we have to Maori boys in our class. Unfortunately no one thought of taking photos so there are no photos.

The  man who created the Olympic rings was called Baron Pierre De Coubertin. The five rings represent the five continents of the world: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Every flag in the world has at least one of these colours on their flag… green, yellow, blue, red, black and white! Did you know that the white background actually is a part of the rings! People got to know the symbol when it was the 1936 summer Olympics in Berlin, Japan

Year 6's at manual!

Usually only the year 7&8's go to manual but this time the year 6's got to go! Firstly we got put into two groups. There were some other children from another school there. Firstly my group went to do hard materials. We made key tags from acrylic, it as really fun. It was just before fathers day so I made one for my dad, it was a big yellow smiley face! Then we did cooking. we made pizza but i couldn't eat it because it was gluten, and i am gluten free. It was so much fun I can't wait to go again next year!

The random thing.....

For independent work I have been writing a story a story called the random thing it has come along well. Here is it now.........

Oh. My. Gosh. There is a random thing standing in the doorway of my bed room. I quickly duck under my bed and hide. The random thing is holding a knife. I hope he can’t hear my heart beating because it is beating very loud. “Just looking for someone to murder.” Whispers the random thing. He walks towards the bed. I hold my breath hoping that he can’t hear me. I crawl backwards carefully. Then I hear a crunching sound. Oh no I have crawled into a old bag of chips. The random thing ducks down and looks under the bed. All I can see are his bright red eyes in the darkness. I scream as loudly as i can. He throws his knife at me and it hits my shoulder. Blood starts gushing out of it. I scream in pain. Next minute my dad comes in. “Honey are you ok?” says dad. “Help” I scream. Then random thing turns around and sees dad. Then the random thing runs at dad and starts to strangle him. “Aaaahhhhhh” screams dad. “Noooooooooooooo!” I cry. Dad falls flat to the ground. Oh no! My dad is dead. I start crying. “ Mum! Call 111! We need the ambulance!” I scream as loud as i can. I can hear the phone dialing and ringing. The random thing jumps out of the bedroom window and runs away into the woods. Yes he is gone! I crawl out from under the bed and crawl to dad. I put my ear against his heart. It is still beating but very slowly. My mum comes in and examines my shoulder and dad. “ I think your dad is going to live if the ambulance comes soon. By the way what actually happened?” Says mum. I start explaining what happened. She seems to believe me. We wait there for ten minutes and then we hear the ambulance pull up in our driveway. Mum exits the room and soon the doctors are inside. Next I faint of blood lose. When I wake up I am in a hospital bed. All I can see is white, white, white and some injections in my arm. A doctor walks in, she looks happy to see me awake. “ Good you're finally awake!” says the doctor! My arm is all bandaged up. “You fainted of blood loss but you are ok now.” Says the doctor. “ Is my dad ok? I ask. “Unfortunately your dad has passed away.” I start to cry. My whole life is destroyed because of that random thing. “ Did the police find that random thing?” I mumble, still sad. No they are still on the hunt.” She says……..After the funeral i'm sitting on my bed. All i can think is about the random thing. I must find it, and kill it… I jump out of the window and head to the woods. I feel creeped out but i must find it. Wait a second! I call my best friend K.C. “ Come down to the wood behind my house immediately!” I wait ten minutes and then she has arrived. “ Finally you are here! There was this creature in my bedroom, i've been calling the random thing. It killed my dad and through a knife at my shoulder.” i say looking down at my shoulder. “ OMG! Are you okay! Soooo why are we here?” she says. I tell her everything. Then we start to venture into the woods. I start to get really scared, scared even to keep walking. I start to peek around each tree I walk past sort of hoping to see the random thing but also hoping not to as well. But I must find him and get revenge! I have never been in the woods before. I start to feel sick and worried. “Hold a moment! Said K.C. “ Did we actually think of bringing anything?” “ummm maybe we should have. But it's too late now.” I say. I look behind me but there is nothing but trees, trees and more trees. “ Maybe we should set up a camp here, it's getting dark.” “Good idea.” Says K.C. Then we sit down underneath a big pine tree and slowly fall asleep. In my dreams I keep getting flashbacks of my dad getting killed. I awake when i see those big red eyes staring at me in the darkness. When i wake i'm sweating all over. I look, expecting to see the roof of my bedroom but only the trees and the starry night sky. Wait!? What is that in that tree? I slowly get up and look at it. A pair of blue-grey eyes look down at me of a little platform. It jumps down and i duck behind a tree. I slowly come out from behind the tree. Oh thank goodness! it s actually a human with muddy brown hair! “Hi!” She says. She is wearing a muddy brown top and faded purple shorts. “ Who are you?” I ask. “ I’m Tabby short for Tabitha.” She answered. “ I’ve been hunting a monster for over a year now.”

Olympics Day!!!

                           Olympics Day!!!

At school we had a Olympics day. There were all different types of sports including gumboot throwing! Everyone was put into a country, i was in japan with my friend Arlina. Out of all the sports that we did my favourite was the gymnastics with Mrs Paul. in the end Great Britan came first, New Zealand came third and guess who came second! JAPAN!!! All the people that won got a little plastic medal. It was so fun!!!

What you just saw in the title was a lie. I really don't like speeches but we had to do it. Mine was about If you were a teacher for a day. It turned out to be pretty good but I didn't make it into the finals. I was pretty proud of myself and my cousin Flynn too because he got into the finals. His was about Dexter Dunn a horse driver. I was really worried and scared, but I did it in the end!
